Cleaning Craft Supplies for Rugs and Carpet

Many people, young and old, find crafting to be a relaxing and enjoyable activity. The messiness of this activity, especially when children are around, is a major drawback for people who have expensive or luxury carpeting.
If a glob of glue or a drop of paint falls on the floor while crafting by yourself, no need to worry at all. At Great American Rug Cleaning, we have some easy ways to get craft supplies out of your favorite carpet or rug.

GLITTER
Glitter is widely used as a decorative and crafting element. Even if only a tiny bit spills into the carpet, it can be quite challenging to remove completely. The shiny flakes can't be removed by vacuuming alone because glitter frequently gets embedded in clothes.
It has been proven that vacuum cleaning is insufficient for this job. That's why we start by vacuuming the area with the hose attachment if it's a big spill. After taking out all the loose pieces, we use the below instruments to extract the embedded remnants.:
- Damp Paper Towel
- Masking Tape to Wrap Palm
- Lint Roller
SCHOOL GLUE
Glue is more difficult to work with because it dries so quickly. Quick action is required to remove glue stain from your carpet. Our prompt service can help you get rid of glue stains thoroughly.
WET GLUE
To remove excess glue from a wet stain, we scrape it off with a butter knife or sturdy cardboard and then dab the area with a moist, clean cloth.
DRIED GLUE
We wet a clean cloth with hot water and press it hard on the stain until the glue softens, and then blot it with a dry towel.
To remove the stain, we cover it with a dry cloth and liquidize the glue with an iron at high heat, so that it is effectively absorbed.
DRIED RUBBER CEMENT
Although dried rubber cement may appear to be permanently embedded in your area rug, we can remove the substance by following a few simple steps:
- We start by dabbing the stain with a small amount of dry cleaning solvent.
- We mix eight ounces of warm water and one tablespoon of mild dish soap to make a solution. We use this solution to firmly blot the stain.
- Using a clean sponge and water, we blot the stain until it disappears.
- We never scrub since this can make the spot sink deeper into the carpet.
PLAY-DOH
Play-Doh and other molding compounds are difficult to remove from the rug or carpet. We let the product dry completely before brushing it loose with a tool. After that, we use a vacuum to collect the broken pieces and wash the area down with cold water and a little detergent.
PAINT
Paint imperfections arise while crafting. We start by soaking wet paint using cardboard or thin plastic. We apply a mild dish detergent & warm water mixture and blot the stain until it disappears. We use a dry cloth to absorb any remaining wetness.
For dried spills, we soak the paint in hot water and an imposing solvent like vinegar, acetone for 20 minutes. After it softens, we scrape it with a knife. To remove dissolved paint, we keep applying the solution and scraping and blotting. After stain removal, we blot dry.
